Having traveled the globe since childhood (she’s lived in Mexico, South Korea, the Philippines and the United States) Dr. Gelinas brings a sense of ease and style to her practice - qualities not often associated with dentistry.
Taking her patients into consideration, Dr. Gelinas meticulously planned the layout and decor for her dream practice; from handpicking finishes and creating her own shade of green for the logo, to adding books and records from her personal collection to the waiting area. No detail was spared to ensure the patients' comfort: Sonos speakers are set to a level where patients won’t hear drilling, diffusers infuse the space with relaxing scent, and televisions are provided in the treatment rooms so patients can watch Netflix during their appointments.
Walking into Gelinas Dental Studio feels like walking into a chic and relaxed home. “I want a clinic that is part of the community - where people know they will get an honest opinion based on what they actually need, not what their insurance covers,” Dr. Gelinas said.
Tanya joined our team with over 10 years of dental experience, starting as a Certified Dental Assistant in 2005, and obtaining her Diploma in Dental Hygiene in 2011.
Tanya is also passionate about nutrition, and takes a holistic approach to overall health and wellness. In 2016, she became a Registered Holistic Nutritionist, and now offers consultations and workshops at the studio. Believing that education is key, Tanya is a wealth of knowledge, allowing our patients access to both dental and holistic nutritional aspects for overall care.
When Tanya isn’t at the office or creating delicious recipes to share on her blog, she’s likely tending to her call to be in nature, from camping to gardening.
Moving to Canada nearly a decade ago, Priscilla joins us from Brazil, where she was studying social communications with a degree in Journalism. After falling in love with a Canadian, and teaching herself English, she decided to stay here and continue her education in Dental Assisting, graduating in 2016. Priscilla has been with us since opening, and has taken a lead role within the Studio.
When Priscilla is not at the office, she is spending time with her husband, going to the movies or exploring areas of Toronto, via cycling.
Priscilla is also bilingual, speaking Portuguese.
Michelle joined our team June 2018, with 11 years of experience as a dental assistant. She was looking for independence in her career and is loving her role at the Studio as Patient Relations Specialist. Michelle's clinical experience allows her to connect with our patients beyond insurance banter.
When not at the office, she enjoys her time with her 13 year old son Nathaniel, and staying active with yoga, boxing and working out.
Being bilingual, Michelle is an asset to our Portuguese speaking patients.
Dr. Mistry pursued a career in dentistry at the University of Toronto, after graduating with honours from the Arts and Sciences program at McMaster University. She has devoted countless hours into public health initiatives and has co-authored an oral health screening tool with the Hospital for Sick Children and Toronto Public Health. She has also traveled abroad to Uganda to provide dental care in rural communities and training with local Ugandan dentists.
Dr. Mistry joined us while Dr. Gelinas was on maternity leave, and now they work together on Monday and Tuesday. When she is not at the Studio, she is working alongside her father, at the family dental office located in Mississauga.
Travelling, yoga, and hiking are some of the ways that Dr. Mistry enjoys her down time. She also recently purchased her first home in Toronto, and is excited for the transition into the city.
